Mary Layton began studying the art of T’ai Chi at a branch T’ai Chi Ch’uan Academy in Sonoma County in 1981. In 1985 she began teaching in Marin County, while assisting at the San Francisco Academy of T’ai Chi Ch’uan. After studying with Master Tung at his Los Angeles Academy, she started teaching T’ai Chi in Modesto.
Naser Ataee began his study of T’ai Chi Ch’uan in 1986 at the Los Angeles T’ai Chi Academy under the tutelage of Master Tung. In 1991 he began teaching for the Department of Parks and Recreation in Los Angeles County and for several LA area schools. In 1994 he started teaching T’ai Chi in health clubs and for the City of Modesto.
Mary and Naser, devoted students and dedicated T’ai Chi teachers, keep their respective studies current. They frequently travel to Los Angeles in order to attend Master Tung’s classes. Mary and Naser attend numerous intensive T’ai Chi Workshops and Camps held by Master Tung throughout the United States and Europe. Students and teachers from all over the world come to these camps. Learning T’ai Chi requires practice, devotion and discipline.
